Dr. Sherr recognizes that each patient presents a unique set of circumstances, signs and symptoms. As a result, he treats his patients individually, guiding each on a path to eliminate disease and symptoms while simultaneously enhancing their body’s overall health.
Biography: Alan Sherr graduated from the New York Chiropractic College in 1980 and has been in private practice for the past 28 years in Long Island, New York. He is founder and director of the Northport Wellness Center, a holistic health care practice which takes a “vitalistic” approach to health care and encourages each individual to take responsibility for his or her own physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health. Dr. Sherr’s practice is designed to “direct people to the realization that life and healing come from within and that, ultimately, the promotion and maintenance of health is superior to the treatment of disease.”Dr. Sherr graduated from SUNY-Binghampton with a degree in biology and psychology. He is a past board member and regional director of the Whole Health Institute and the New York Chiropractic Council. He is a member of the International Chiropractic Association and the New York Chiropractic College Alumni Association. His book Heart of the Healer won the Benjamin Franklin Award for the Best New Publication in 1986.
A champion of the philosophy of chiropractic, which emphasizes the uniqueness of each individual and views health as a dynamic process involving the body, mind and heart rather than merely an absence of disease symptoms, Dr. Sherr teaches that each person’s journey toward optimal health and well being is a personal one.
