The secret of abundance is to stop focusing on what you do not have, and shift your consciousness to an appreciation for all that you are and all that you do have. * Dr. Wayne W. DyerÂ
Heel pain is a common ailment among adults with foot problems and occurs most often in people over the age of 40. Heel pain is usually associated with the plantar fascia, a band of connective tissue in the foot. The heel can be irritated from overuse, obesity, prolonged standing or shoes that do not fit properly. These causes lead to pain that varies with activity, swelling and redness.
Treating heel pain depends on the severity of the condition, but Northport Wellness Center Podiatrist, Dr. Steven Stummer had had success with conservative methods such as orthotics, anti-inflammatory medication and physical therapy. Corticosteroid injections, splints and casts may also be used. These methods help reduce current symptoms and correct the source of the symptoms as well. Severe cases may require surgery to release the plantar fascia or remove a heel spur.
