A Message from Holistic Pediatric Nurse Practitioner and Simply Pediatrics founder, Jennifer Zethner, RN, MS, CPNP
The First 1,000 Days (TFOD) is a global initiative to improve the health of children focusing specifically on conception until 2yo, which are the first one thousand days of a life. The health of a woman carrying a baby is significant. While the global initiative focuses on women and children from developing countries the U.S. continues to have one of the highest infant mortality rates in the world, one of the highest rates of maternal mortality*, and one of the highest poverty rates in the world. In no other rich country do so many poor people live.*
Founder and owner of Simply Pediatrics, Jennie Zethner, CPNP, is pleased to announce her commitment to TFOD by offering both in-person and virtual pre-birth to 2-year-old consultations. These in-depth consultations will focus on optimizing health for the first 1000 days of your child’s life. Additionally, Jennie gives back to the community by speaking about TFOD with parents and expectant parents at a rescue mission located in her community.
The optimal times to schedule an appointment would be early in pregnancy. This consultation for both mom and partner will review mom’s health, including medications, supplements, vaccines, diet, stress, emotional and physical supports; mom’s living environment including potentially toxic exposures found in the kitchen, bathroom, pets, backyard, clothing; mom’s birth plan, breastfeeding/formula, and plans for the first 3 months after birth. Follow-up visits addressing TFOD include traditional pediatric visits at the first week of life, then at 1m, 2m, 4m, 6m then every 3 months until 18m then every 6m until the 1000th day of 2yo.
At each of these visits, Jennie works to:
- Identify the present and potential obstacles and triggers that can lead to the root causes of common infant and childhood conditions.
- Review appropriate growth and development at every stage of development
- Offer parenting guidance at every stage of development including both parents and siblings.
- Review optimal dietary choices for your child at each stage of development from first foods to avoiding ‘picky’ eaters.
- Offer guidance for common childhood illnesses with natural alternatives including homeopathy, diet, herbs, vitamins, gemmotherapies, as well as the reassurance that their child can manage a common illness with little interventions, love, and patience.
- Avoid unnecessary medications and interventions.
Jennie looks forward to meeting you and is passionate about guiding you and your family towards optimal health.
