Yoga Therapy

Yoga Therapy is a modern term that describes the original way yoga was authentically practiced, and is practiced, in its birthplace, India and at Yoga Foundation. As an emerging health-care profession, yoga therapy services are now offered in mental health settings, hospital settings, in chronic pain care facilities and rehabilitation settings working in conjunction with Western medicine.

Yoga therapy involves a process whereby an extensively-trained Yoga Therapist adapts yoga practices to support the unique needs of an individual, over time. This ancient and intelligent approach is for care seekers, including those who assume they can’t do yoga or yoga isn’t applicable to their condition, who are ready to promote their own experience of personal wellbeing.

The Northport Wellness Center is pleased to welcome Danielle Tarantola, founder and director of Huntington Station-based Yoga Foundation, a Yoga Therapy Center and Yoga School established in 1998. Danielle specializes in Yoga Therapy and Yoga Teacher Training, all available in person and online.

Danielle practices with the philosophy that self-induced states of internal safety, calmness, courage, clarity, stability, confidence, ease and inspiration are imperative for complete personal wellness, and they are possible with appropriate, guided Yoga practice in which individuals become active participants in their healthcare.

Benefits of Yoga Therapy

Yoga Therapy addresses a broad range of physical, mental, behavioral and emotional challenges, as long as you are willing to practice at home, with expert guidance. As your symptoms and experience improve, the practice may be adapted to support and extend these improvements into your life.

Danielle's Philosophy on Health & Wellness:

Self-induced states of internal safety, calmness, courage, clarity, stability, confidence, ease and inspiration are imperative for complete personal wellness, and they are possible with appropriate, guided Yoga practice. You become an active participant in your healthcare. We can seek out the greatest health professionals, but we must also do the work at home to shift our trajectory to one of self-empowerment and independence, rather than feeling attached to our practitioners in order to stay well.

When the work respects the individual and their personal and life parameters, the healing is expedited and can be sustained. We begin addressing your symptoms; however, navigating to the source, which can hide in the body, mind, nervous system, personality and emotions is the work of Yoga.

Description of services:

Yoga Therapy is the complete customization and implementation of daily, at home personal Yoga practices that respect the individual and their health concern in the context of the whole person. No two care seekers are alike, no two practices are the same. The goal is to get you practicing personalized, appropriate Yoga in the comfort of your own home every day, and we are known for facilitating that.

Yoga is taught close to the roots of India's renowned healing modality. Danielle's simple, straightforward, yet layered approach may include physical movement, breathing practices, meditation, chanting, self-reflection, lifestyle modifications, dietary recommendations and other appropriate, non-religious, Yoga-based disciplines. The intention is to repeat the practice daily and create healthy new patterns, transforming detrimental conscious and unconscious physical, mental, emotional and behavior patterns from the inside out. Weekly meetings are required for four weeks, biweekly meetings for the next four weeks, then monthly meetings, then seasonal meetings. This varies according to condition and care seeker.

Weekly semi-private group classes (https://www.yoga-foundation.com/schedule), workshops (https://www.yoga-foundation.com/workshops) and 200, 300 and 500 Hour Teacher Trainings (https://www.yoga-foundation.com/teachertraining) are also available.
