What-to-Look for-in-a-Center-for-Holistic-MedicineYou should always take your health seriously. Taking the holistic path to achieve optimal health is a great way to partner in your own health care. As holistic health care becomes more widely known and appreciated, choosing a holistic medical center has become increasingly challenging. Consider the following criteria when establishing a relationship with a holistic medical center:

Ensure the center for holistic medicine you choose shares your personal health care philosophy.

Do you prefer a bandaid approach or a journey to achieve optimal health? Do you want to treat your symptoms or what lay beneath them? While most holistic medical centers typically address health care without the use of invasive treatment, they may vary in their approach. It's up to you to learn what each center’s mission is, as well as their treatment approach and opportunities they provide so that you can see if that is the center that will meet your needs and goals.

Learn about the practitioners and their professional relationships with one another.

In many centers for holistic medicine, patients have access to various services and programs. These may or may not include: chiropractic care, neurofeedback therapy, skin care, physical therapy, trigger point therapy, and/or acupuncture. Because several treatment types are all practiced under one roof, there are going to be multiple practitioners who specialize in one of these areas.

While this will make going from one appointment to the next much easier, you won’t necessarily reap all the benefits of receiving these treatments if the practitioners aren’t working together.

For example, let’s say you are a part of a spine and joint recovery program to help with chronic back pain. After a thorough evaluation by a knowledgeable medical professional, you are instructed to receive chiropractic care, physical therapy, and 3-D spinal decompression therapy for several weeks. If the chiropractor, physical therapist and 3-D spinal decompression therapist aren’t communicating with each other, however, you may not experience as much of an improvement in your condition than if they had. Collaboration on part of the entire professional team is key to assisting you in achieving optimal health.

Identify a holistic medical center that is dependable.

Trying to get in touch with someone who just isn’t responding can be extremely frustrating, and it can be even more aggravating when that person is a medical practitioner. Therefore, an ideal health care center will always return your call or email inquiry in a timely fashion, within 24 hours of receipt.
