Nowadays, it’s easy to come into contact with environmental toxins, unhealthy and processed foods, alcohol, caffeine, drugs, and stress. No matter how healthy your lifestyle, such external factors will always be around. Luckily, your body is continuously working to dispel these toxins, and you can support this process by detoxing.

You may even experience moments when your body outright tells you it needs a good detox. Signs include fatigue, stress, frequent headaches or colds, breakouts or blemishes, digestion issues, and more. These symptoms could persist for weeks or months, underscoring the necessity for this natural cleansing. It could increase your energy, improve your immune health, digestion, and mental clarity, and clear up your skin.

To support your body’s natural processes, your detox will need to include:

1. Additional Hours of Sleep

The nonprofit National Sleep Foundation advises adults ages 18 and older get between seven and nine hours of sleep. During this time, your body regulates its temperature, steadies hormone levels, restores the immune system, and more—all of which contribute to a boost in energy levels

If you’re used to getting four hours of sleep each night, there are several steps you can take to build up those hours. Stick to a sleep schedule, practice a relaxing bedtime ritual, and turn off electronics before bed. Health information website Healthline also created a 3-Day Fix for Energy guide, which can help correct your sleep patterns in just a few days.

2. Change in Diet

During your detox, you’ll need to limit a few products or start a specific diet. Reduce your sugar, salt, and processed food intake. These often have toxins or preservatives that aren’t healthy. Consuming excessive foods with sugar and salt can lead to obesity, heart disease, cancer and diabetes, which all hinder the body’s ability to detoxify. Trade in junk food and candy for fruits and vegetables.

Multiple therapeutic diets are available to help you live a healthier life and cleanse your body. Northport Wellness Center offers nutrition programs that focus on paleo, ketogenic, specific carbohydrate diets, gut and psychology syndrome, and Whole 30.

3. IV Vitamin Treatments

IV vitamin treatments are the perfect detox. These drips contain essential vitamins and minerals including vitamin B6, C, and E, magnesium, zinc, and selenium. They provide a boost of energy, improve heart health, diminish migraine symptoms, help with asthma attacks, and strengthen your immune system.

According to Northport Wellness Center Alliance member iV Bars, only 15 percent of active nutrients consumed orally find their way into your bloodstream. IV vitamin drips, however, deliver 100 percent. iV Bars offers a variety of cocktails, each performing a specific function including immune health, hydration, rejuvenation, weight, and performance.

4. A Greater Water Intake

It’s well known that water is a life necessity. But do you know all the other detoxing benefits an increase in water intake can bring? Water aids digestion, with some evidence suggesting it can increase metabolism and the amount of calories burned. It supports nutrient absorption and regulates body temperature. It can also boost energy, enhance performance, prevent or treat headaches, relieve constipation, and assist weight loss.

It’s greatest detoxifying trait is its ability to remove waste from the body through sweat, urine, and feces. It flushes toxins out, while transporting vital nutrients around the body.

5. Regular Exercise

Sweating out unwanted toxins is just one way regular exercise can help you detoxify your body. If you are mobile for 150 minutes per week, you can reduce your mortality risk and lower the risk of cardiac events and other chronic diseases. Physical activity also reduces inflammation, which is necessary for wound healing or infection recovery.

Committing to yogic deep breathing with excessive exhalations release carbon dioxide and allow for fresh oxygen to enter. Meditative exercises like yoga can detox your mind of negative or anxious thoughts, and facilitate relaxation and positive thinking.
